And sometimes your skill expires and you cannot log on so you lose training time. The game punishes you for not following through your training schedule 100% of the time, but as we all know real life can be erratic and distract you from EVE - your computer can break, you might have to stay at work extra hours, you accidentally fall asleep from being too tired and forget to switch skills, etc. Sometimes there are issues with the game itself as for example with the last patch some peeps had their boot.ini file deleted and could not boot their PCs. A few could not log into EVE because their native font wasn't working so they could not type in their user name and password. There was even a post in general discussion some time ago about someone leaving the game because he could not log in for a week and his petitions haven't been answered. He felt like he was paying for nothing and quit EVE.
This is the whole point of skill queueing - to make the game more user friendly, stop punishing those whose rl schedule is most erratic, and have a safety net in case your computer, the client, or the server malfunction. Unfortunately CCP apparently thinks they can make more profit by not having a queue in which case people will miss skill training and it will take them longer period of time to train up whatever it is that they want. So in all this time they haven't introduced a queue into the game, although a lot of people have stated that they would be happy with a queue that holds 1 skill. At least this would give the players greater freedom as to when they have to log in to the game and reduce frustration with missing skill training due to unforeseen circumstances.
My take is that it rewards people who manage their skills well. For instance, I have a skill that finished training 3 or 4 days ago that needs to be changed, I haven't logged in to change it because of RL demands/commitments. I'm not bothered, because EVE is something I do for fun, not something that I choose to stress out over. *** Si non adjuvas, noces (If you're not helping, you're hurting) Improve Share Transfers |
